REDMOND CHURCH
More Than a Church, A Community That Welcomes You

If you are, a community awaits you in the Redmond, WA area.
At Red-Wood Falls Church, we are a diverse family of people who worship together, care for our city, and grow in faith side by side. Whoever you are, there is a seat here with your name on it.
Join us every Sunday at 10:30 AM, take part in our service and ministries, and find your place in a community that opens its arms to you and your family.
Who We Are
We are a diverse church where every age and background belongs, right here on the Eastside. People from many walks of life gather each week to worship together. Young and old, lifelong believers and first-time guests, all are welcome in the same room.
Every Sunday morning, you will find families, couples, singles, and seniors worshiping side by side. Some have followed Jesus for many years, while others are only starting to explore faith.
Every one of them has a place here at our church — and so do you.
Our heart is for the people around us. We want to be Jesus’ caring hands to our neighbors, so we look for real ways to help. Faith, for us, is something you live out through action.
We long to see God’s love reach across the Eastside. Loving our neighbors well, welcoming strangers, and showing up for our city are all part of that hope.
You do not need to have it all figured out to belong here. Wherever you are on your journey, you can come as you are and take your next step with us.

What We Believe
Our faith is simple at its center, and it shapes everything we do. Three ideas guide who we are and how we treat people.
Everything Starts with Jesus
For us, it all begins with Jesus. We believe He is God, that He is with us today, and that He still leads us now. The more we know Him, the more we want to love the way He does.
Everyone Belongs Here
Every person matters to God, so every person matters to us. We welcome people of every background, culture, and age, and we see that mix as a gift. Kindness is one of our core values, and you will feel it the moment you walk in.
Come as You Are
You do not have to dress in a certain way or know the right words to join us. God meets people right where they are, and we try to do the same. Bring your questions, your doubts, and your hopes, because there is room for all of them here.
Our Story
Our church began in 1984, when Pastors Tim and Jackie White started Emerald City Community Church at Lake Washington High School in Kirkland.
As it grew, the church built a permanent home and later took the name Washington Cathedral. In 1997, it added the Spirit Falls Waterfall, which we still use for baptisms today.
With new seasons, new leaders came into our community. Pastor Mark Nsimbi joined in 2022 and became lead pastor in 2024.
A year later, Pastor Tim retired in 2025 after 41 years of service. Today we carry the same mission forward under a new name, Red-Wood Falls Church.
Our new name comes from our desire to grow, keep things simple, and serve our community with the same love we always have. But although our church’s name is different now, one thing stays the same:
The heart behind everything we do.
Meet Pastor Mark
Pastor Mark Nsimbi leads our church family. Born in Kenya to Ugandan parents, he brings a global heart and a deep love for people.
His faith journey has crossed continents and cultures, and it shapes the way he cares for our church today. He loves teaching from the Bible and walking through everyday life alongside the people here.
Join Us in Person or Online
We gather every Sunday at 10:30 in the morning, and the service lasts about an hour. You can expect live music, friendly faces, and a Bible message that connects to everyday life. Come dressed however you feel comfortable.
The Service
The music is heartfelt, and the teaching is easy to follow, whether you grew up in church or have never opened a Bible. You will hear how faith connects to real life, from work and family to the week ahead.
Walking into a new church can feel a little nerve-wracking, and we understand that. You are welcome to sit back, take it in, and take part only as much as you like. There is no pressure and no spotlight on guests.
A Community for Your Whole Family — Including Your Young Ones
Your kids are welcome, too. During the service, children go to their own classes for lessons and age-appropriate fun. Meanwhile, you get to worship while your little ones are cared for nearby.
Stick around afterward to say hello. We love meeting new people, and there is always time to connect before you head home.
Join Us in Person or Online
It’s always a blessing to have people take part in our Sunday service and ministries. However, don’t feel left out if you cannot join us in person.
You can watch every service on our YouTube channel and worship from wherever you are.
Welcoming You to Our Community by Breaking Bread
In the Bible, some of the most meaningful events took place around meals. If you are new, we would love to meet you at a Welcome Lunch.
It’s a relaxed way to learn more about the church and get to know everyone.
You can also fill out a Connect Card, and someone from our team will reach out to say hello.
ways to get involved
The best part of church often happens outside the Sunday service. There are many simple ways to jump in, build friendships, and grow with others. Every one of them is open to you, no matter how long you have been around.
- Small Groups: Meeting through the week in homes and around the church; these small groups are where many people find their closest friendships and grow in faith together.
- Serving Teams: Serving is one of the best ways to meet people and make a difference, and there is a role to fit your skills and your schedule. New teams are always glad to have another set of hands.
- Prayer: Send us a prayer request anytime you need one, or join others as we pray for our church, our city, and the people we love.
- Missions: From our own neighborhood to needs around the world, we put that care into action through our missions.
If you are not sure where you fit, start by showing up on a Sunday. We will help you find your next step from there.
Red-Wood Kids
We love kids at Red-Wood Falls, and we work hard to make church a place they enjoy. Our Children’s Ministry Associate, Joel Maloba, and his team create a safe, joyful space where your child can learn about Jesus and make new friends. Here is what your family can expect.
Kindness is one of our core values, and our teachers model it every week, which helps kids settle in fast and feel at home.
Sunday Classes by Age
Kids join us every Sunday at 10:30 AM, right alongside the main service. Classes are grouped by age: a Nursery for little ones under two, a room for ages three through kindergarten, a class for first through fifth grade, and a Middle School group for sixth through eighth grade. Each lesson comes from the Bible, and kids take part in the story before diving into games, snacks, and hands-on crafts.
Safe and Secure
Your child’s safety comes first with us. We use a secure check-in system, so only the adult who drops a child off can pick them up. Every volunteer is background-checked through the Washington State Patrol.
Room for Every Kid
We want every child to feel included and loved. Children with special needs are welcome, and our team has real experience helping kids with ADHD thrive. Reach out to Pastor Jackie or Joel before your visit, and we will work with you to make it a great one.
Wiggles at The Waterfall
We also host midweek playtime for our youngest kids. On Wednesdays from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, you can bring your little ones to an open play gym, grab a snack, and meet other parents. Wiggles pauses over the summer and returns on September 9.
Find Your Place with Us

Join us this Sunday at 10:30 AM. You will find us at 12300 Woodinville-Redmond Rd. NE in Redmond, and you can plan your visit online before you arrive.
Statement of Faith
The sole basis of our belief is the Bible, composed of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament. We believe the scripture in its entirety originated with and reflects the backgrounds, styles, and vocabularies of the human authors. We hold that the scriptures are infallible and inerrant in the original manuscripts. They have the unique, full and final authority on all matters of faith and practice and there are no other writings similar.) inspired by God. We believe that the church family should constantly be experiencing the transformative power of scripture through its preaching, teaching, memorization, study and meditation. This should lead to constant growth in our thoughts, actions, habits, and character. We believe that the scriptures should be an inspiration of personally experienced grace and not of super-spiritual judgmental attitudes toward others.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
We believe Jesus is God showing himself to us and we want to be His followers. Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who was united forever with a true human nature by a miraculous conception and virgin birth. He lived a life of perfect obedience to the Father. We believe that the Good News of Jesus Christ and of the Kingdom of God is fundamental teaching that we follow today. We believe that Jesus died for our sins on the cross, that he was buried, that he rose again on the third day, that he appeared to his disciples, and that he then ascended to heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father where he continually intercedes for his followers. We believe that Jesus will come again to earth personally and visibly to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.
I Corinthians 15:3-12; Colossians 1:13-23, 2:8-14; Matthew 22:36-40; John 14:1-3; Hebrews 1:1-3; Acts 10:42-43; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
We believe grace is the only way we can have an authentic relationship with God. The central purpose of God’s revelation in Scripture is to call people into fellowship with Him. Originally created to have fellowship with God, humankind chose to go their independent way and were thus alienated from God, suffering the corruption of human nature. Therefore, we affirm with scripture that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). The salvation of each person is wholly a work of God’s free grace and not the result, in whole or in part, of human works or goodness. It must be personally appropriated by repentance and faith in the finished work of Christ. When God has begun a saving work in the heart of any person, He gives assurance in his Word that he will continue performing it until the day of its full consummation.
Romans 3:9-28, 6:23, 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3; Titus 3:3-8; James 2:14-26
We believe all of us are fallible human beings but with God’s help we can grow. God made people in His own image, as the crown of creation, so we might have fellowship with Him. Tempted by Satan, humans rebelled against God, thus obtaining a predisposition for lack of trust which has separated us from God and led us into sin. Because of this fallen nature, it is clear that God must and does initiate the redemptive process. We believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for sinners, shedding His blood for the atonement of sins, and that God has a wonderful plan for each of our lives.
Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 8:3-6; Romans 3; John 15
We believe that the creator of the universe, whom many religions have different names for, is the one true loving God. God is eternal and completely good, knowing all things and having all power and majesty. God exists as the Trinity, in three persons, yet one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God passionately desires relationship with us and continually invites us into a relationship of faith, friendship, learning, and service.
Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 40:18-31; John 14:6-9, 15-17, 16:7-15; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
We believe the Holy Spirit, God, can live in and through us. The Holy Spirit, sent from God to live inside all who believe in Jesus Christ, teaches, comforts, and empowers us. We believe in the filling of the Holy Spirit and its essential ministry in bringing the fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit. We understand the gifts to be legitimate expressions as long as they are in order with the rest of the local congregational family and in careful concert with the leadership and the unique calling and ministry of the local church family. We believe that the Holy Spirit communicates to the body through individual believers who then interpret this message in relationship to scripture and the counsel of mature Christian believers. We understand that fellowship with the Holy Spirit is at the heart of genuine Positive Faith.
The Book of Acts; Romans 5:5, 8; 1 Corinthians 12-14; Ephesians 3:16, 4:3-4, 5:18; John 14:26, 16:7-14
We believe that none of us can be at our best living alone; we all need a positive community of faithful friends. The result of union with Jesus Christ is that all believers become members of His body, the church, the Family of God. There is one true universal Church, comprised of all those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We believe that this church is a part of a larger universal church, made up of many denominations and traditions that believe in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We are in cooperation with all other Christian churches, not in competition, to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Scripture commands believers to gather together to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, and fellowship. They are to serve the body and reach out to the world in observance of Baptism and Communion as the sacramental ordinances established by Jesus Christ. The church is under the leadership of the pastors, who are given the responsibility to equip God’s people for ministry. All believers are called and gifted to fulfill the Great Commission. We believe in healing hurts and building dreams in a variety of needs-meeting ministries that reach thousands of unchurched people in our community.
Matthew 16:18; John 15:12; Acts 2:42-47; Colossians 4:5-6
We believe humans are eternal beings and death is not the end. God’s redemptive purpose will be consummated by the return of Jesus Christ. Then shall the eager expectation of creation be fulfilled and the whole earth shall proclaim the glory of God who makes all things new. Humanity was created to exist forever. They will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is to be in hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Humans cannot judge salvation; God alone will judge. Our task is to love people like Jesus knowing that they are eternal beings.
John 3:16, 2:25, 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; 1 John 5:11-12; Luke 21:27
